A Pet Friendly weekend in Carlingford with Luna!
Luna had a fantastic pet friendly adventure in Carlingford! She and her humans kindly shared a few of their experiences there with us - and of course, we wouldn’t let you out of this.

Carlingford is located in county Louth, bordering the political divide between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Rich in History, tales, and activities, the city is a must see when you’re around Ireland. As it’s located at 108km from Dublin (1 hour-ish drive), it’s perfect for a weekend getaway;
And obviously, you wouldn’t leave your pooch behind during this adventure. See below all Luna’s exploration during her fantastic trip to the ancient east!
Where to stay?!
One of the best ways to bring your pooch with you on your staycations is to look for pet friendly self-catering accommodations, and there are some beautiful on AiBnB!
Luna reccommends a stay at 5 Trinity Mews, just in the heart of Carlingford.
Another option of self-catering accommodation is at Wood Quay beside King John’s Castle and with a stunning sea view - it also has Luna's paws of approval.
You can find many other options on the AirBnB website :)
Where to eat?!
An Award winning Gastro Pub & Live Music Venue.
Luna’s humans told us that PJ’s is dog friendly. They have fab food, drinks and also brought Luna a bowl of water. There is a covered and heated beer garden which is out back and accessible through their main bar.
A cosy, warm and friendly pub in the heart of Carlingford! They have an outdoor covered and heated area that is dog friendly, and every table had a dog. They brought Luna a bowl of water.

A lovely café serving breakfast, lunch, coffee and treats! Luna was able to have a seat inside, and they are dog friendly!
What to do?!

Bike + dog trailer renting:
‘On Yer Bike!’
Conveniently located on the Carlingford Lough Greenway at the Marina. They have loads of bikes for humans of all sizes and ages, and they also have dog trailers: 3 sizes - Basket for smallies, a medium size trailer (they saw a British bulldog in one of this), and the large trailer which Luna was in - after a bit of coaxing 😂. Luna and her humans cycled the greenway all the way to Omead. It’s about a 45 min cycle one way.
What a fantastic adventure, isn’t it? With all this info, all we need to do now is to pack our bags!
Big thanks to Luna and her humans for sending us this fantastic information and for the lovely pics. A while ago, we were planning to go to Carlingford, and we didn’t know anything about pet friendly places - thanks to Luna, it has changed.
